Honor
To all of the incoming freshmen of BVHS, honor is important to have. Students and teachers should both respect you, but respect is not just given to people, it is earned. Derek Jeter is very honorable because he was never outworked and everyone wanted to play like him. He was the highest standard for how Baseball should be played, and that is what made him one of the greatest shortstops' of all time. I respect those who do what they are supposed to do even when no one is watching. Those with integrity are often very well-respected. I respect people that will tell the truth all the time and don't cheat for success. People that hold themselves to a higher standard and take accountability for their actions are honorable people. Those serving or have served in the military are very honorable people because they lay their life on the line to protect every citizen of the United States. That is why we honor those people when we sing the national anthem and on certain days like Veteran's day and the Fourth of July. I believe that working hard is very honorable. As freshmen, you need to have the mentality that you want to be the best that you can be. You will not go anywhere in high school or in life without hard work. During High School, there will be a time when you can take the easy way out or become lazy and not do assignments. This cannot become a habit if you are trying to succeed in High School. Your grades in High School affect your GPA which affects which college you want to attend. Everything matters from now on in High School so make sure to make the most of it.
What I'll Miss about KC
I will miss multiple things about Kansas City. This community has given me so many opportunities to succeed and I will not be able to thank the community enough. I will obviously miss my friends and family for being a good influence for me. I will miss seeing everyone's face at school and I will especially miss my teammates in basketball and baseball because they were a lot of fun to be around. The places I will miss most are almost endless. I will miss Blue Valley because the environment was great and Mr. Bacon is a stud. I will miss going to the Church of the Resurrection on Sundays. That place is important to my family and I. Our pastor Adam Hamilton is probably the nicest guy I know and is a fantastic speaker. There are many places to eat around Johnson County that I will miss, the best being Joe's barbecue. That restaurant has the best barbecue I've ever had. My parents will be missed very much because they are always fun to talk to and they help me out a lot with pretty much any of the problems I face. I won't be far from them in Lawrence but it will be weird not being able to see them every day. I'll probably have to come home most weekends to see them and also to do laundry. Kansas City has always been great to me and it will be difficult to leave it but I am very excited to move on with my life in Lawrence.
Most Prized Possession
My phone is easily my most prized possession. Most Importantly, I use it for communicating with people, whether it is texting, calling, twitter, or snapchat. Without it, all of those things would be borderline impossible. Also it helps me get out of awkward situations that I need to get out of. I can also watch things on my phone like Netflix or some MLB games. I can play fanduel which is a lot of fun because I can make money off of it. Without my phone I wouldn't take many pictures and I like to look at all my pictures some times for some good laughs. Tap Baseball is a fun game that is played on a mobile device and I could only play it on my phone. I use my phone to set alarms on my phone when I go to bed or take naps. This is helpful because otherwise I would just sleep through school and other things I need to wake up for. I listen to music a lot, manly from my phone. I don't know how else I would listen to music when I workout or when I'm in school. I use my phone to e-mail my teachers sometimes when I need to ask questions or when I need to turn something in. There are endless ways for me to utilize my phone which easily makes it my most prized possession.

The Office Characters Rescue
If I was captured, I would call on Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, and Jim Halpert from "The Office" to rescue me. Michael would more than likely come up with a crazy plan that Dwight would go along with. Jim would be the only logical thinker of the group and pretty much do his own thing. Because Dwight has every weapon known to man, he would have to use them to fend of the bad guys. He would mostly use his nun-chucks and his sword. Michael would cause multiple distractions that would not help at all even though he thinks they are. He would try out his magic tricks that don't work. Meanwhile, Jim would sneak past all of the commotion and save the day. Jim is the only logical thinker of the group so it would make sense for him to rescue me. Dwight would surprisingly come out alive after fighting multiple peopele, and Michael will tag along with Jim after a while and act as if he was the one that saved me.

Most Influential
Lebron James has made the biggest impact on the field of sports in my opinion. He has been the best player for a decade and easily the most talked about player. He has made 6 NBA finals appearances including 5 in a row. His decision to leave Cleveland in 2010 was so huge that ESPN covered his decision and made a TV special about it. This was devastating for everyone in Cleveland knowing that their prodigy, who grew up in Akron, Ohio, has left their city. Cleveland fans felt betrayed by his decision and some went as far to burn his jersey. His time spent in Miami was not wasted. While in Miami, Lebron went to 4 NBA Finals and won 2 of them. After the 2014 season, Lebron thought that he should go back to Cleveland because he wanted to win a Championship for the team that drafted him and for the fans that supported him his first 7 years in the association.

Blog #1: 2016 Goals
January 6, 2016
You all have a busy year ahead of you that will
include many big changes in your life. Reflect on 2015 as a whole, and then
look ahead to 2016. Think about the way(s) your life will be different by the
end of 2016.
In a fully developed response (two paragraphs
minimum), define your most important goal (i.e. resolution) for the upcoming
year. What is the reason you wish to achieve this goal? What are some obstacles that stand in your way
and what will you do to overcome these obstacles/hurdles? How will you measure
your success? What benefits do you expect to gain by reaching your goal?
2016 will be the most important year of my life because of the fact that I will be living on my own starting in the fall. College will be very interesting for me because I will have to take care of my grades and myself without anyone helping me. This scares me because I will have to self-motivate myself like never before.
My goal is to get all A's and B's my first semester of college. I want to achieve this to prove to myself and everyone else that I can handle college. College will no doubt be a very different experience than high school. I will need to be able to adapt quickly to make sure I can focus on school and getting my degree. I really want to prove people wrong that don't believe I can handle it.
