Blog #1: 2016 Goals

January 6, 2016

You all have a busy year ahead of you that will include many big changes in your life. Reflect on 2015 as a whole, and then look ahead to 2016. Think about the way(s) your life will be different by the end of 2016.

In a fully developed response (two paragraphs minimum), define your most important goal (i.e. resolution) for the upcoming year. What is the reason you wish to achieve this goal?  What are some obstacles that stand in your way and what will you do to overcome these obstacles/hurdles? How will you measure your success? What benefits do you expect to gain by reaching your goal?

2016 will be the most important year of my life because of the fact that I will be living on my own starting in the fall. College will be very interesting for me because I will have to take care of my grades and myself without anyone helping me. This scares me because I will have to self-motivate myself like never before.

My goal is to get all A's and B's my first semester of college. I want to achieve this to prove to myself and everyone else that I can handle college. College will no doubt be a very different experience than high school. I will need to be able to adapt quickly to make sure I can focus on school and getting my degree. I really want to prove people wrong that don't believe I can handle it.

Blog #2 Current Event

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are about to square off in the playoffs for the fifth time during their outstanding careers. It should be a great game, but I do not think points will be scored as easy as their previous match-ups. Tom Brady is a better quarterback at this point than Peyton Manning, but the Broncos defense is one of the top defense in the league. The Broncos earned the best record in the AFC; however, I believe the Patriots are the better team and will win the game. The Broncos beat the Patriots earlier in the year in Denver, where the AFC championship will be played on Sunday. Julian Edelman was not playing and Gronk got injured late in that game. Both of those players will be on the field Sunday. Tom Brady has been an MVP candidate this season and no doubt deserves to be. I believe Cam Newton will end up winning it but at age 38, he is having an unreal season. Peyton, on the other hand, is on the verge of retirement and it is pretty clear. He does not throw the ball with as much zip as he had when he was in his prime. The Broncos are going to need to run the ball effectively in order to win. They cannot rely on Peyton Manning to throw the ball 40 times and expect to win. The Patriots are better suited the throw the ball 40-50 times throughout the game, even though the Broncos have a great secondary. I expect the game to be won by the Patriots in a close game, but in the end, Tom Brady will go to his 8th Super Bowl.
